SPEECH, BEATS, PATTERNS: Multiracial Conversations. (SBP:MC) The videos below are part of an ongoing project YAKO 440 undertook during his MFA studies. His goal was to create work that connected his creative mediums with the research he was doing in the field of Critical Race Theory. SBP:MC was the resulting product, in which YAKO records audio of conversations, produces music behind it, and paints live to the sounds. Finally, all those ingredients combine into an edited "motion painting" video. (See the work of David Ellis, and Marlene White for a broader sense of the form.)
